Walt, the one and only time I ever dropped my iPhone while it wasn't in it's case, the little on/off button on top sarted sticking. After seeing where the impact damage was and using my warped-but-give-it-a-go logic, I gave it a bash on the opposite side. It then worked perfectly again.
