Hmm. That's one type of lens I would've wanted to use this with.

I photographed elephants in South Africa using a A 400/5.6 + 2XL supported
by that ball head and the shots were sharp. I didn't tighten the ball head
when I was shooting with a rig like that - the idea of it was to support the
lens while I used one hand to  hold the body and to track, and the other
hand to focus and set the aperture.

Imagine that, having to use your hands for focusing and setting the
aperture. How did we manage?

Was that before or after we evolved into truck drivers? ;+]
