It's trivial in Lightroom and just a little more work in Photoshop. Most
packages have some sort of leveling functionality (maybe even iPhoto?).

note that you lose a little bit of resolution anytime you make such an adjustment; in the majority of cases it may not matter, but it's something a lot of people don't realize
