I never had that problem on the *ist-D which had a similar card door.
However black electrical tap would do the trick, or you could use
Gaffers tape.

They really did it better on the K10/K20

I have been trying to figure out a way too keep the hatch from
being opened inadvertently. Anyone have and find a solution to
this issue?

I think gaffers tape would leave less residue.

I had the card door on the *ist-D just break off once. I heard a little "tink" noise while I was walking along, looked down and the door was GONE! I was in the middle of the woods when it happened, and had to get down on my hands and knees and dig through the leaves until I found it.

I used Scotch Brand clear acrylic Packing Tape to hold it in place until the replacement part arrived at my local authorized repair shop.

I've found that clear packing tape also makes a good protective cover for the LCD screens. It's inexpensive and works a whole lot better than any of the commercial covers I've tried. The residue comes off easily with alcohol wipes - the kind they rub on your arm before they stick you at the doctor's office.
