I copy to some other form of storage (normally my laptop - I put a 500GB drive in it just for that reason) as soon as possible; I try to upload every evening. But I never re-use the SD cards until I've got a second copy (currently on a portable 250GB USB-powered drive, which comes with me in my camera case). Of course I never travel so light that having a computer and pelican 1410 would be a problem. But if I did I'd definitely try to find some way of making a copy ASAP - I get nervous when I've only got a (potential) image in one place.
