First thing to try in any of these errors that might be caused by a "communication problem" between the lens and the camera is to clean the contacts on both the body and the lens. A clean pencil eraser has been recommended (and used successfully by me in the past). You should not rub hard enough that any of the eraser actually comes OFF, but if any does just blow it off. Perhaps fast-evaporating Eclipse cleaner (like is used on sensor cleaning operations) would be another option.
