Not "need". I do understand the difference. I "want" one, and I have
the money set aside to buy what I "want".
Absolutely. IMO, there are two major reasons for buying photo stuff. One
is, like e.g. Dave Savage, who had very specific photographic needs and
who *knew* that FF camera will fulfill these needs. Another is like you
say - because you wand and you can. Both reasons are 100% legit and none
should be subject to pun.
