The cultural diversity of Hawaii is such that few of the locals are
clearly identifiable as belonging to only one of the ethnic groups
that comprise the people of Hawaii.  In fact, they have a special name
for any family that appears all to belong to the same race:
"tourists."

There have been improvements to the Road to Hana since I last drove it
decades ago, but it is still interesting.  Actually, the road TO Hana
is fairly manageable;  it's the road BACK from Hana, around the east
end of the island and leading to upcountry at the Tedeschi Vineyard
and the ranch that is really challenging.
