Ryan, Last week I flew out of the Detroit, Phoenix and San Diego airports. I carried a fairly large shoulder bag with two bodies and several lenses, including an FA 80-200 f2.8. This is not quite as large as your 400, but it's no midget either. It only drew attention in Detroit, where I had to open the bag for the residue test. Elsewhere, all went through xray and no further questions. I'm certain you'll experience much the same.
