Yep, it's not the diopter. Blurry and out of focus is one thing, a
clear view is different.
Are you sure you aren't just seeing the groundglass pattern on the
screen? Pentax tends to put a coarser screen in to facilitate manual
focus (I suspect because their AF is so atrocious).
