We had Roger Cicala from LensRentals.com speak at our monthly Carolina's Nature Photography meeting. He talked about lenses - good ones, bad ones & how to get the best of them.
What I took away from his presentation is that if you have a really good lens where it's going to be very expensive to replace the front element you should invest in high quality filters to protect that front element. But for a surprising number of lenses, the cost of replacing the front element is less than the cost of a mediocre filter, so don't worry about it. What I didn't get was any definite kind of feel for which of my lenses have expensive front elements & which could be replaced cheaply. I'm back. I hope. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
