Recuva is worth a shot. It has helped me a few times. I don't think there is a mac version if you are on that side of the fence though. There are a few others that I found. One worked where the others would not, let me look at my installed list. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was puran file recovery which is free for home users. Kind of generic and not the prettiest, but it more than got the job done. Sandisk's utilities should work pretty well for any kind of card.
