Believe I prefer the revision, Brian. I feel the slight color and contrast 
punch give it all a touch more "drama."

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions.

I had a go at cloning out the branch but the right hand side became  
very bland and I couldn't get a crop I liked.

Next I tried adding a bit more light to the window and shears and  
toning down the branch via a levels adjustment along the lines Paul  
suggested.
