but if you can afford it, i would suggest at least a 27" monitor — not one of the really cheap 1920x1080 models, but 2560x1440 — because the extra pixels make a big difference with photography
Wirecutter currently recommends Dell UltraSharp U2715H, which is $400 at Newegg; i would guess it would have much better color than the models you looked at, but there are probably some cheaper 27" models which aren't too bad; you can see how they chose it here:
