It's really not all that confusing. If I'm going to push up around the $500-$600 level, I'd probably rather get the X100S, because I'd just like to have one. If I don't reach up there, the K5 seems to be a good deal. KEH has a couple in the $300-$350 range.

All that said, I'm torn. I do like the K7 and my glass and don't know if I want to lose that option. On the other hand, I shoot much more with my X100 than I do the K7, and the X100S is a sweet upgrade, especially for how I'm shooting now.

Thanks for all the answers, folks. Christine, I'll probably pass on the K7, though I sure appreciate it. If I get another camera, I'd like it to be an upgrade. The K7 has been a great camera for me, even though according to the internet you can't get a decent photo out of it. I seem to have done all right with one.

Don't quite understand the economics of "maybe afford a used K-5" or
"spend a bit more and upgrade to X100S", but it's your call. Seems to
me if you can "spend a bit more to upgrade to the X100S" you could
also "spend a bit more" and upgrade to a K-5 II/K-5 IIs (as an
example). I didn't keep my K-5 or K-5 II that long but I thought they
were BOTH terrific cameras. The K-5 II could autofocus in the dark. I
can't help but feel that the IQ of them was better than the K-3/K-3
II, particularly at higher ISOs, even if others contradict me.

Hi, troops. As you can see, my beloved K-7 is about to bit the dust. It's
become a little reluctant to change shutter speeds, and I'm not sure what
shutter speed it's ever on any more. I have used and abused it for years,
and now it's tired and wants to go home.

I can maybe afford,if a client comes through, a used K5, and here's my
question: is it worth getting. I know there have been upgrades to it, but it
seems to have gotten decent reviews whe it came out.

My other option is to spend a bit more and upgrade my Fuji X100 to the
X100S, but that would put me out of the Pentax game. I'd like to stick
around, maybe, if the K5 is worth it.

What say you?
