Well I didn't try to mix his formula... I did a couple of other things
one or another of the several vids I watched suggested, plus the usualhead cleaner run.. so far the result is that the 5 left-most cartridges and heads are working fine or minorly off... but the 3 right most - cyan, magenta, yellow show no pattern whatsoever on the nozzle check print out... I got a little syringe (free, actually) from my local drug store and I have some little 3/16" (I think) tubing from a spent eyeclass and lens cleaning bottle... I'm ready to attempt flushing out the three key ports... but I may wait until my neighbor returns on Wed. who at least has steadier hands and more experience fiddling with things of this sort than
I do - at least in recent times.

Any opinion or caution on whether using that lens cleaning stuff with purified water?
Or white vinegar and distilled water?

Dave, Jostein, PAul - when you got your printers unclogged just using the head cleaning
mechanism, were any of those nozzle check boxes missing entirely?

On a serious note: In the other thread on "unclogging a printer head"
I posted a link to a video from a fellow who describes making a DIY
nozzle cleaning solution. His recipe does include Windex, but it is
important to note that Windex now has multiple formulations and his
recipe specifies using the Original formulation.

Jostein,

It's probably the most popular brand of window (and kitchen counter)
surface cleaner in the US:

"My Big Fat Greek Wedding" movie had a big reference to it.
(Btw, that was a nice comedy, imho.)
And I referred to that movie in my response as well. ("old Greek Windex")

I couldn't find the relevant episode on Youtube, but here is the
playwrite and actress describing the basis for that:

Not familiar with the brand, but isn't it just some kind of organic solvent?

Glad to hear that, Jostein

I'm off to B&H to buy two more cartridges that I should have gotten
yesterday... don't ask..

I used the Rite-aidverson of Windex on a paper towel to wipe the spikes

last night not realizing it
wasn't Official Windex that I was loaned but the same chemistry.
Crossing fingers I didn't
cause more mischief - can't know until I replace the actually dead
light light black.
