Alan. great shot and beautiful bird. Reading stories of professional nature photographers like Frans Lanting and Mort Hilmer, a few hours waiting for a picture is peanuts!

I adjusted the levels a bit which may have had an effect on the saturation but the colours look pretty true to me.. A bit of motion blur on the beak.

I need to have a hide on the garage roof so I can be within a few metres. The only problem is I may have to wait for hours. I have a two week window by which time the figs will be finished.

That looks a lot more like a pigeon than the other one!

You certainly nailed focus on that one.

Did you amp up the saturation on post processing?

BTW, we have moved to lockdown level 4 now so have more liberties. We may now exercise between 06:00 & 09:00. Certain specified businesses are now open & fast food deliveries are allowed but no booze or cigarettes.

Late this afternoon while I was gardening, a large flock of Green Wood Pigeons visited a Fig tree overhanging my carport. Now, these are very difficult birds to photograph because they are very skittish & will explode out of the tree if disturbed. I slowly crept into the house to get my camera & slowly crept as close as I could get (about 20m). Most of the birds were in the middle of the tree but I managed to find a couple exposed in the weak sunshine. I then slowly backed off & put my camera back in the house before returning to pack away the garden tools. Then it happened - with much commotion the whole flock shot out of the tree in all directions. The Afrikanns name for this bird is Papagaaiduif (Parrot Dove) for obvious reasons. This is the pick of a bunch of average shots:
