Thanks , RIck  - and Paul and Dan..

The second shot is just  a bit of history  to those who know what is going on there... the building in the background is what has been going up in place of those that were lost in the spring of 2015 when an illegal gas pipeline exploded and caused a big fire.. big enough for it to have made national news - two guys died in it and were originally suspects.. the foreground, of course, is one of the inside-outside dining arrangements that was built in response to the pandemic... but it showed me what the camera does well.. handling the details in the shadows without blowing out the highlights..

I look forward to doing more photography now that isn't just for ebay  - combined with chores and exercise...

Ann, I really like the tulips shot.

Glad you got the Coolpix working.

DSLRs are, indeed, heavy. I’m usually not carrying extra lenses lately, and
occasionally just a prime (the 21 pancake is my favorite).

Took the Coolpix out for a trial run.. I set ISO to 400 on the program mode
and bracketed but don't really need the bracketing .. I can fix that later if
needed.

Went back and forth between the default auto settings an my program settings..
didn't get much to like but this one..

one other "shooting from the hip" shot , a block from home....

I'm so relieved the camera works and is light enough for me to carry. and with
having gotten nicely vaxed up and things more accesable
now I can do some real shooting.. I wish my K-5 were not so heavy.
