People who pay by phone on the tube during rush hour in London are a monstrous
pain in the ass as it takes longer for the device to do its thing than it takes
for Oyster or contactless, which are instant. This means that the rhythm of
people going through the barriers is disturbed, and minor queues build up with
jockeying for position into other lines, which causes further disruption, and
so ad infinitum.
