Perhaps arranging to send some samples to Pentax Japan would remedy the quality issues. Is there anyone here that has a contact at Pentax headquarters? Maybe an anonymous company official, who reads this list, has already noted the complaint. I hope it doesn't result in simply having all of the .pdf manuals removed. I guess I'll take the time to download the ones I want, just in case. It really may not pay to complain about a gift.
Lots of the manuals are (or were) available for a nominal fee (about $4.00) from Pentax. Why can't folks see if they are still available? $4 was a very fair price. If they are out of print, maybe someone here on the list has one and can get it to the list member that was scanning them and turing them into .pdf files some time ago. I forget who that was but I probably have a bookmark on my home computer. Another source is www.craigcamera.com but his prices are higher than folks want to pay, i'e. it's how he makes a living. John travels the country over buying manuals at swap meets and re-sells them via mail order. I don't see how he can sell them any cheaper than he does and still stay in business.
