My Blad required service every other year, too. If you are going to run as much film through a camera as a working pro, you should expect to have to maintain your camera bodies. If you are going to shoot four or five rolls of film a year, like most ordinary citizens, then maybe you could get away with having your camera serviced every four or five years.
There are no cameras, at least those with interchangeable lenses, that never require service. To avoid service completely, buy disposable cameras and dispose of them regularly. Otherwise, reconcile yourself to the necessity of a CLA at regular intervals and a repair when a problem arises. We don't expect our cars to do without regular mainteance, so why do we expect our cameras to be maintenance free?
