Forget the lenses, forget the tripod and all the rest of the technique jazz. Get a roll of Fuji Reala (or even Kodak Supra 100) and then take a look at the enlargements. I have found that the type of film has a bigger effect on how a picture looks, because of fine grain (smoother tones and ability to render fine details) than all the other hardware factors.
