I use common libs, but create a project lib at relevant points for maintaining project history complete. > I also need to know how to set it up, will I need a separate ddb > containing just libraries That's what I do. > Either way I also need to maintain integrity of the library in the case a > ddb goes corrupt aswell, as if all the components/footprints are only in > the central library and it gets corrupted, I'm in for a lot of work! It's probably not that common among hardware developers, but a source code repository (version control system) can be very valuable for hardware work, too. Such a VCS usually doesn't work well with the Access-based ddb files, but it works quite well with the file system-based storage. This and/or a good and reliable backup routine are necessary anyway, IMO, and with either you shouldn't have to worry too much about file corruption -- you always have the last revision to go back to, and it shouldn't be far in the past.
