Hi Brad,

I assume you are talking about an outline, and not the designator or comment.

For the outline, you cannot turn it off selectively. You can double click on the component, unlock the primitives, then change the layer assignment for the outline to an unused mechanical layer, then re-lock the primitives. There is some risk doing it this way - first, you could accidentally move other primitives when they are unlocked; second, if you later update the component from the library, your outline change will be undone. As long as you keep these small risks in mind, you should be OK.

If you mean the designator or comment, yes these can be individually turned on or off for each component using the appropriate check boxes.

I have a PCB component footprint that includes information on the overlay
layer.

On a particular component I do not want the overlay layer to show because it
overlaps a solder pad on another component.

Can the overlay layer be selectively turned on and off a footprint or must
new footprints be created with various degrees of overlay information?

Brad.
