We have just started using the freeware SubVersion CVS system for
maintaining our libraries:

http://subversion.tigris.org/

As librarian, I work on my lib files on my local disk, then commit the
changes to the SubVersion server (exiting LibExec to do so). And the
users periodically update their local libraries from the server (exiting
P-CAD to do so). A Perl script sets all their local libs to read-only,
so the normal P-CAD access date changes to the files don't change them
to look like they're out of date.

Besides having to exit all the time to do updates, the drawbacks are
that there is currently no automatic means of updating the user's libs,
and, unless they check, there is no obvious indication to the user that
his libs may be out-of-date (other than my emailing notices of changes).

Has anyone else tried SubVersion? Any suggestions on its use in a PCAD
library application?
