Michael,
You don't mention the *.DPL or *.BPL files though. What I have found is
that there are 5 *.DPL and 5 *.BPL files. The DPL files are usually removed by
the uninstall. The *.BPL files are not removed by the uninstall and seemingly
not replaced by the install process either.
The *.DPL files are: CSRTL.dpl
ProtelComponents.dpl
vcl30.dpl
VCLDB30.DPL
VCLX30.DPL
The *.BPL files are: CSRTL50.bpl
ProtelComponents50.bpl
vcl50.dpl
vcldb50.bpl
vclx50.bpl
As for your board shape, there are some known, problems with the
autorouter and non-rectangular boards but that shouldn't effect anything unless
it crashes when trying to run the autorouter.
Are you able to get the PCB out of the DDB? Try exporting it by right
clicking on it in the explorer pane and exporting. Then try opening the PCB
file under the WFS methodology, outside of a DDB.
Alternately, if you can get the PCB files open at all try paring it
down to eliminate possible sources of the problem. (i.e. delete board outline,
delete polygons, etc., etc., until you find something that was the cause.) You
can also try exporting the PCB as an ascii file and reimporting from ascii,
this will sometimes filter out problems during the process.
Is there a possibility that any arcs of large radius have their centers
outside of the positive quadrant workspace? On polygons, board outline, parts
or anything? Or maybe even a component that has it's origin offset from the
part so that the origin is outside of the positive quadrant?
That's about all I can think of.
Sincerely,

Subject: Re: [PEDA] FW: Access violation
Hi Brad,
Thank you for your fast answer but I had the procedure you suggested already
done:
- I reinstalled SP6, P99SE,
- I deleted all '*99SE*'-files in Windows-folder
- and reinstalled everything again.
It didn't work.
Perhaps there may be another remarkable item:
The first design, that crashed on my computer was one with non-rectangular
PCB-shape.
It was a square with rounded corners.
The second one has bevelled corners.
Does Protel have any known problems with irregular shaped pcbs?
Sincerely,
Michael Senghaas
