Local "culture" is like a species or a language or a market area: largely
defined by limits on transportation.

Since culture travels on the internet (literature, movies, news, fashion,
music) much faster than people can travel/migrate/mix by conventional means,
certain shared values are spreading far more rapidly among the world population
than one might have predicted a generation ago. American businesses are
largely responsible for that: Disney, Apple, Amazon, Google, etc.
