Yes! Not the mathematical formula interacts, but the real law. To say, that the law does not exactly determine actual events, at first seems a steep thesis, e.g. when Peirce (did he?) said, that maybe someday we will find out, that one plus one is not exactly two. Did he anticipate Einstein? A H2 molecule has slightly less mass than two H atoms, because to seperate a H2 molecule, it takes energy, which is then stored between the two H atoms, as potential energy, which has a mass, that too is weighed, when you weigh the two H atoms. Though with two neutrons, the difference is much lower. Mach even proposed, that, the farther you get away from any mass, the weaker is the effect of natural laws. A through ball for science fiction: Spaceship travellers experience weird and weirder events, the farther they travel into deep space.

And I think a strictly mathematical law doesn’t interact with anything existing; it is at best a mathematical formulation (a sign) of a real law of nature (which does determine actual events, though not exactly.)

Thank you, Jon! I don´t think, that unicorns exist in the logical sense, but only their concept. And this fictional concept doesn´t directly interact with matter or energy, while a mathematical law does. And I also think, that modal logic includes classical logic. That is, why I have problems accepting, that there are two different meanings of "exist". Doesn´t logic belong to metaphysics? But maybe I am wrong, I have been before.
