What is the use of a technical term that is*never* (it seems) used
without being followed by a parenthetical definition. I have noticed
this phenomenon over the years even in financial columns (for
example in the WSJ) the readers of which are presumably fairly
sophisticated. Yet writers almost never trust their readers to
know what "basis points" mean.
