Oh, Braden, you are wrong again. WW Rostow was not right, and this I 
will not debate with you. But the reasons why are quite different. 
Neither Argentina, nor Uruguay, nor least of the three Chile had 
taken off. Nor has Brazil taken off.

You cannot take off when you have the whole weight of the 
international system on your wings, and a swarm of perverted agents 
working aboard the plane in order that the cockpit is full of dim-
witted yessir sayers. The only one of the three countries that was 
about to risk to take off was Argentina, but the experience was 
adequately aborted in 1955, and that's all that there is to it.

"Take off", that is a foolish substitute for national revolution.
