I think that's unfair. For this
election, near unanimous black support for Gore
was probably pre-ordained. If it wasn't, we
could have expected some black independent
protest candidacy. A pragmatic, tactical decision
to back Gore, while defensible in and of itself,
is not evidence of any commitment regarding
the politics of race.

Nor, in the context of assorted corporate, elitist
Dems trashing Nader, is it smart politics for anyone
on the left to blend in with that mob.

You seem to be attacking Nader for his failure to
attract black support, or for his failure to follow
black leadership and support Gore. Nobody has shown
anything to support the premise that Nader was more
insensitive to racial concerns than Gore.

CB: Ok , let's see. I am not attacking Gore, I ( or Fran Beal) was constructively
criticizing him, in other words with the purpose of getting him to do something that
might change the circumstance of his not having much Black support. During the
campaign , his lack of Black support was an obstacle to supporting him, regardless of
how the circumstance came about. It is and was one of his major responsibilities to
change that by any means necessary. Fran Beal pointed out a relatively painless way
that he might do that. Just come out loudly and selflessly ( since he would not be
seeking many votes for himself) in outrage against the racist discrimination in
voting. Just do a 60's flashback. Would be a real smart move. He should listen to
people like Fran Beal , who is a genuine ,veteran radical and progressive.

It also seems inconsistent, in light of your defense
of the white radicals in Seattle. Their profile on
race issues was no better than Nader's. Of course,
they didn't go so far as to suggest taking a vote
away from Gore and giving it to Nader. All they
did was block streets and break windows. It seems
that this went down better with Clinton and Gore
and yourself than the Nader Campaign.

((((((((((

CB: Well, yea , the white radicals in Seattle should criticize this racist voting
discrimination too :>).

I'm trying to think of an analogous issue within their non-electoral arena that the
white radicals in Seattle slept on. Seems to me that the white radicals in Seattle did
express anti-imperialist/anti-U.S.nationalist protests, and in general evince more
anti-racist sentiment than Nader, but correct me if I am wrong.

Point is Nader is losing an opportunity to standout dramatically as an anti-racist.

(((((((((((((((

CB: Shoving this criticism in his face AFTER the election is perfect timing
for rocking him out of his paleface organizational hue.
