CB: We don't need new hypotheses and predictions and theories until we finish the project of overthrowing capitalism and initiating socialism. Theory for the sake of theory, generation of theory for only the sake of theory is an especially bad idea in the historical sciences.
Charles, that's ridiculous. We clearly don't have all the answers to a lot of questions. Some of those answers may help us bring about socialism. For example, Marx didn't study psychology (it didn't really exist at the time). But maybe the issues of (social) psychology could someday become clear in a way that would help people deal with the issue of working class consciousness, e.g., the inadequate appreciation of capitalist exploitation.
