a few questions:

1. when you say average do you mean 'mean'? is that a good measure?
interestingly enough, in a unrelated post, i pointed to a chart (from
EPI) that shows median income has decreased.

2. has average wage increased across the board in india? if so, how do
the figures look for real wages for non IT workers? all i have is
anecdotal information and its bad: at the bank where she had what used
to be a 'for life' job, they have started layoffs. in the meantime, she
is being pushed into the outskirts of the city due to ridiculously high
housing costs (thanks to the instant wealth of the small segment of IT
workers). a non-IT worker in india, i would *guess*, is on the losing
end of an impossible race for resources.
