Michael Smith: I'd say it was already pretty scary, and has been for some
time. Ryan, you might say, is the latest step in a long
march, all in the same direction. Not exactly news.
There are things that might stop it, but voting is not one of them.

What can slow it down is actions which keep alive the hopes born in
Wisconsin & OWS. It is quite correct that voting can't make a difference.
If Obama wins, Wisconsin/OWS remains on the sidelines at least until summer
or fall; if Romney wins, politics may recover sooner from election-year
doldrums. His victory would also perhaps save Social Security and Medicare.
