I had the impression that Marx worked on Capital to help identify what was 
wrong with capitalism and 
give people the tools to change the economy. 

Marx identified where the surplus value comes from that allows economic growth. 
That leaves the 
people that which to improve the economy with the task of increasing the 
proportion of surplus 
value that remains in the control of workers. 

Housing differs little from manufacturing in Marx's economic model because the 
commodity than 
becomes occupancy for a period of time with the land and building becoming the 
capital asset.
