Yes, of course. But at the same time it opposed, sometimes with violence, any attempts to build a party to the left of the DP--in particular a Labor Party. The larger and more powerful it was, the better able it was to serve as a sheepdog for the DP. It did good work fighting racism and building the CIO but politically it was a wing of the New Deal. Didn't you learn this in the Trotskyist movement, Marv?
