I just got an email from Steve Brown, a local WBAI activist, with an
attached file announcing the resignation of Don Rojas, the station manager
at WBAI and Dan Coughlin, the executive director of Pacifica. I am making
it available here:

I was deeply disappointed in the way that Rojas managed the station and
assume that things will get better. They can't possibly be any
worse--except with the return of Utrice Leid and her gang, I suppose. Rojas
was press secretary to Maurice Bishop in Grenada and a fairly decent person
politically and personally. I imagine that Pacifica radio has a way of
bringing out the worst in people.

I have very little involvement with the station nowadays, except to give
occasional interviews about film on Prairie Miller's afternoon arts show. I
do listen to Henwood's radio show from time to time and Bill Weinberg's
late night talk show when I am up and about. As I have stated here
recently, I believe that the station is woefully lacking in leadership and
professionalism, what we call "the subjective factor" in Marxist politics.
I sincerely hope that the Pacifica board can come up with a suitable
replacement. It should be somebody first of all who understands that radio
is an entertainment medium. If you drive people away because of amateurism
or shrillness, it doesn't fucking matter how good your politics are.
