This seems to be an unwelcome resuscitation of the debate that I thought had been put to sleep. There seems to be two binaries. (1) Should we prefer billionaire mullahs or more ascetic and perhaps more religiously oppressive leadership for a country about which we know little? (2) Since we approve of Venezuela, shouldn't we also approve of Iran? I'm probably missing something but with the flurry of posts, it's hard to keep up.
