This seems to be an unwelcome resuscitation of the debate that I thought
had been put
to sleep. There seems to be two binaries. (1) Should we prefer
billionaire mullahs
or more ascetic and perhaps more religiously oppressive leadership for a
country
about which we know little?
(2) Since we approve of Venezuela, shouldn't we also approve of Iran?
I'm probably missing something but with the flurry of posts, it's hard to
keep up.

Nothing would make me happier than to see you put the kibosh on this
thread. I would never post about Iran if it weren't for Yoshie's diurnal
interventions. I feel rather like Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day". I would
love to wake up one morning and not see one of Yoshie's PR releases for the
Islamic Republic of Iran.
