Which is the right thing to do. There is one difficulty. There will not be a revolutionary socialist movement in the u.s. until u.s. imperial hegemony is broken. To reach the University of Chicago from the old Marshal Field's store at State and Madison one travels by the Lake Shore Drive. That is, if you can reach the Lake Shore Drive. That, fortunately, is not difficult to do. It is less easy to build a Socialist Movement in The Imperial Hegemon. It may be impossible. Hence a breaking of that hegemony is or ought to be of some concern to revolutionaries (or even radical reformers) in the U.S. I don't think we can do it without a great deal of help from the forces in the world which Yoshie is trying to identify. She may or may not be making the correct identification, but she is certainly engaged in a vital revolutionary task. Carrol
