There are degrees. Bush 41 was one of the less Israel-friendly
administrations we've had, and they seem to be coming back. There's a
front-page piece in today's NYT that seems to have an undercurrent of
anxiety about the US-Israel relationship.
Ah, that's because the country I love is endowed with fantastic assets
-- second only to Saudi Arabia in oil and second only to Russia in
gas, and it must have much more than its proven reserves suggest,
given the US sanctions and pressures that have diminished foreign
companies' investment and exploration -- and so is its neighbor to its
West, whereas Israel has nothing except its armed forces, which just
proved unable to even defeat Hizballah.
