If power and money are in play, the imagination
knows no bounds. SPIEGEL ONLINE presents the
craziest conspiracy theories of the economy. This
time: how the global elite at the secretive
Bilderberg conferences divide the world among themselves.
Theory
Each year, the mightiest of the mighty meet
somewhere in the world in a luxury hotel in a
secluded spot to three days to divide the world
among themselves - on the Bilderberg conference.
The illustrious participants consists of current
and former heads of state, diplomats, CEOs,
military officials, aristocrats, intellectuals and a few journalists.
It was the Polish political consultant Joseph
Retinger, who after World War II used his
connections in politics and in the economy in
order to found a secret transatlantic conference.
About the CIA even the U.S. president was
contacted, and the billionaire David Rockefeller was there.
Participants had therefore "be influential and
universally respected and specialized knowledge
or a lot of experience", to carry their "personal
contacts and influence in national and
international circles the targets set by
Bilderberg" to meet. The preparations lasted
until 1954, then invited Prince Bernhard of the
Netherlands in his Hotel de Bilderberg in Oosterbeek. Hence the name.
To date, the safety precautions are strictly
around the venue and discreet. Journalists who
tried to rent a room at the conference hotel, or
to write about the conference report from
wiretapped phones, deleted digital photos and intimidation.
What exactly auskungeln participants in the
reception room, at the bar or in the sauna is not
clear, for lovers of conspiracy but there are a
number of points: that's the illustrious group,
the theory is that in the past year on the former
participants Peer Steinbrück (SPD) as the next
Chancellor of Germany - after the decision is
made there forever: Angela Merkel was invited in
2005, and a few months later, she was the most powerful woman in Germany.
Helmut Kohl was in 1980 and it was awarded two
years later chancellor, Helmut Schmidt was his
participation in Bilderberg 1973 a year later
crowned with the chancellorship. That the next
government will be a red-green coalition, is - it
believes the growing community of conspiracy
theorists - the way already set: Green group
leader Jürgen Trittin took part in this year in the conference.
What's behind it?
Hard to say, because participants usually do not
talk about the conference. One thing is certain
secrecy at Bilderberg meetings is not more
stringent than in many other conferences. It is
called the Chatham House Rule, according to which
the participants use the information, but the
statements must not associate with certain
audience - similar to a background discussion of
politicians or business leaders with journalists.
Matthias Nass, international correspondent of the
weekly newspaper "Die Zeit", proposes as a member
of the steering committee of Bilderberg
participants years ago and continues with the
topics. The SPIEGEL ONLINE request can sigh it:
"It's all an arrant nonsense, which revolves
around the Bilderberg Conference." Reality not much to give for conspiracy.
Confusingly, however, the responses of other
German participants of the Bilderberg Conference
2012: Roland Koch (former prime minister of
Hesse, now head of the construction company
Bilfinger Berger) can align that he had "no
intention to comment on this issue." A spokesman
for Josef Ackermann (ex-German Bank CEO) asks for
understanding, "that Mr. Ackermann to such a
world conspiracy nonsense not want to comment
(more)." Reitzle (Chief of Dax group Linde AG)
reacts with almost "no comment possible." At
least here the experienced conspiracy theorists
is noisy: Why is there no comment "possible"? Had
he said something like, but is forced to be silent?
Even those who respond a little more detail leave
many questions unanswered - and plenty of room
for speculation. Ischinger for example, a
diplomat and former chairman of the conspiracy,
no less suitable Munich Security Conference, now
working for the Allianz insurance company: "There
are no secrets," writes Ischinger, pointing to
the website of the conference. That there is
working on a world dictatorship, denies Ischinger
while on the issue of who leads the word on this
secretive meeting is a sibyl answer: "If the
Bilderberg has something to say that has something to say."
Even Jürgen Trittin, tweeted from the secret
conference even stated not saying: "go to these
conferences, there is an open exchange of views
on topical issues of the euro crisis to the
concern about the loss of democratic
possibilities of action thus not differ
Bilderberg other. formats that meet think tanks,
politicians and companies. " Even he, the Greens, had been listened to.
There is no answer to the question: Does it mean
for what is happening in politics and business
world really so little, when 120 of the perhaps
most powerful politicians and managers sit
together at the bar or in the sauna, have
understanding for each other, and at least for
one weekend a consensus ? produce
And if it were true after all?
If it were true, but then there would be, for
example, in the euro crisis, much less friction
and dramatic peaks theater. Greece would have
already saved or secretly shared among the
neighboring countries. If it were really true,
then EADS CEO Thomas "Tom" Enders had as a member
of the Steering Committee of the Bilderberg
Conference cleared the merger of his company with
the British rival BAE Systems at the illustrious
meeting in advance, rather miserably at the resistors politics to fail.
And if it were really true, then the actual
conference on conspiracy would have lost their
meaning. Each year, world leaders meet in an
isolated area that is actually to determine the
fate of millions of people and billions of
dollars - in the middle of the Swiss Alps, in the
small town of Davos. At the World Economic Forum.

Please consider seriously the reason why these elite institutions are not discussed in the mainstream press despite the immense financial and political power they wield?
