Well, being one of those people who want certifications, I feel I must
respond to this.  It sounds like you're surprised, especially
considering the following paragraph.

I want them for just one reason: my boss.

I want to be able to say to potential and current boss' that I have
(mumble) certification which gives them some kind of justification for
giving me a raise.
