My comment is reproduced below: Israeli universities as government institutions not free to protest against government policies? Tell that to those self-hating researchers (such as Dr. Pappa) who promote academic boycotts of their own institutions. They were not summarily thrown out of their universities, which would have been the case had you (and Stallman) been right about this state of affairs. There are arrangements which were made to ensure academic freedom in the universities, even though large part of their budgets are covered by the government. About the "they hate us, they hate us": you are ignoring what history has taught Jews, especially the Holocaust period. History is full of naive Jews who believed in living in peace with their non-Jewish fellows, only to be confronted by the ugliest kind of anti-semitism there is. Stallman's cancellation came suspiciously short time after Bibi Netanyahu uncovered the real motives of the Palestinians in the so-called peace negotiations. Their ultimate goal is not peaceful coexistence with a country which would serve as a safe harbor for world's Jews. Their goal is to subjugate and even extraminate the Jews. --- Omer Zak On Mon, 2011-05-30 at 11:05 +0300, sawyer x wrote: > On Mon, May 30, 2011 at 8:46 AM, Gabor Szabo <[email protected]> > wrote: > I am surprised Sawyer is not sending his orderly response to > this list. > Here is his blog: > > > http://blogs.perl.org/users/sawyer_x/2011/05/richard-stallman-cancels-university-talks.html > > I did not send my reply to the list since it's predominantly Israeli > (for obvious reasons :) and I fear a flame war for not taking the > obvious jealous pro-Israeli approach. > > It always comes down to someone not agreeing with Israel (this time, > imagine that, Palestinians - who would have thought it) and Israelis > in reply saying they are hated and prosecuted. > > While at least it didn't reach the "he's anti-Semite" proportions, I > fear that will be accompanying us soon enough. :) -- Palestinians did not firmly and vocally and strongly denounce the Hannover attack (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/24/german-youths-attack-jewi_n_623922.html) but rather supported the attack, even though it is yet another proof why Jews need their own country in which they can live safely.
