Attention PDL developers and interested parties:
This is to announce the creation of the PDL 2.4.3
release candidate 1 branch named: rel_2_4_3rc1
This release is intended as a quick point release
for PDL to share the current progress in the PDL
cvs development with the general PDL community.
Please download this cvs branch and test on the
platforms you have available and report to me what
the results of your tests.
cvs co -d PDLrc1 -r rel_2_4_3rc1 PDL
Please include the following information about your testing:
1. hardware and os
2. pre-build configuration (what pre-requisites are
already installed, is a previous PDL already installed...)
3. perldl.conf options used
4. summary output from make test with the
testing harness
In particular, please take a look at the Known_problems
file. This is a draft version with ??? marking the items
that need to be confirmed/verified for inclusion. If you
have a configuration that permits testing or knowledge
of the problem referred to, please test and report!
I'm not sure about the best protocol here but please
don't make non-documentation fixes to the rc1
branch without first discussing the proposed change
on the perdl and pdl-porters mailing lists. The goal
here is to get the existing rc1 code checked out for
a general release. We'll add problems to Known_problems
but lets not make any code changes unless absolutely
required and agreed to by consensus.
Also, this is my first time helping with the PDL
release process. Apologies for any roughness
around the edges. I hope that having a new
release out the door quickly will allow us to
focus on more substantial changes as needed
for the follow-on release.
Cheers,
