There is a company here in the US that is successfully using green laser
light to scare birds away from crops. Seems to work well.  Again, not sure
about their use in urban areas.
Those sonic boom bird scarers are a menace.  There is a farmer using one in
our area and it sounds like a huge explosion that can be heard for miles
around, especially in the early morning hours!
There is also a new product on the market that poisons birds temporarily,
causing them to convulse and scare  other birds away by their cries of
danger and distress.  Supposedly 'does not cause pain or pose a threat to
other species'.   Sounds horrific and cruel,  but it is actually on the
market.
How much trouble our feathered friends can cause!!
