Dear Mariateresa
I have been involved with an extensive review of treatment proposals including low oxygen, freezing and controlled heat treatment and we have considered our options for our new facility outside of london. One of the things we have decided is to not install large freezers or thermal chambers but to rent them when the collections are prepared for relocation, and when there is a specific need. We do have smaller facilities at the new site and larger systems in London for business-as-usual treatments/ We undertook a huge cost/risk analysis several years ago and the renting option was favourable for several reasons. (servicing/maintenance, replacement, value for money, construction costs etc) However, what we have undertaken is construction requirement for external heating, water supply , weight loading for the vehicles, vehicle access to ensure that lorries can come on site, plug in, and have all the operations nearby - loading bay etc I'm happy to chat offline if you wish regards Adie IPM Manager, British Museum ________________________________ From: pestlist@googlegroups.com <pestlist@googlegroups.com> on behalf of Stephan Biebl <i...@holzwurmfluesterer.de> Sent: 08 February 2021 11:10 To: pestlist@googlegroups.com <pestlist@googlegroups.com> Subject: [PestList] AW: heat treatment Dear Mariateresa, over the website from Thermo Lignum you could get in contact with 4 museums in Norway and ask for practical experience with their TL-chambers. https://www.thermolignum.at/at/thermo-lignum-anlagen.html Other possibility could be the contact with ICM in Brussels over website https://www.icm.works/en/#anchor1. They have also a mobile chamber for treatments if needed, see picture https://www.icm.works/en/#abouticm I would discuss the main questions: How often do you need treatments per year, what sizes are the objects (m high/m3) and which materials do you have to treat (paper, wood, others)? Februar 2021 11:48 An: pestlist@googlegroups.com Betreff: [PestList] heat treatment Dear all museum-pest members, My name is Mariateresa and I am the Paper Conservator at Gothenburg Museum of Art in Sweden. We are in the process of building a shared-storage facility together with our City Museum, Design Museum and Aquarium. The storage will also have an area for large scale disinfestation treatments. Because we are in the planning stage, the discussion is including which is the most suitable method for our collections, and we are investigating different options. I would like to ask if anyone can give us advices or feedbacks about heat treatment solutions, for example, if someone has had experience with Thermo Lignum. I saw, also, a list of literature in the Museum pest website, but I would, really, appreciate any personal experience, advice or point of views for this type of treatment. Thank you so much in advance and happy start of the week to all of you. Best regards Mariateresa -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MuseumPests" group.
