wipe samples are more accurate if you want to assess growth on a given surface.
Air sampling will only give you information on what has accumulated in the air 
(if this is what you are looking for, use this method). Not all spores are 
easily released into the air, some have a mucous film around them and will be 
transported to a new habitat by adering itself onto something (e.g. insects). 
You will not easily detect such kind of spores by air sampling. 
Hence surface sampling with a sterile cotton swab, scalpel blade, or sterile 
velvet -depending on the Kind of surface- is the most appropriate for surface 
sampling

What are the differences between wipe samples and air testing?
Is one or the other easier, cheaper - or better in some other way?

If there is no control data - from before a mold problem occurs - is one 
sampling diagnostic?
