There are empty sockets so this may be worth investigating. I have just been 
reading here

that a HDD Etherboot image could be loaded. This may be a way forward as the 
idea of floppies and CD's being needed to boot, with so many small wandering 
fingers in the classroom, was an issue.

I'm coming the other way :-) , the server accesses the internet happily 
and now it has two LAN cards I think I got the second one set with a 
static IP OK so now to try the DHCP angle.

are their LAN interfaces on the motherboard ? I'm wondering if anything 
can be added via that empty socket one sometimes sees on the PCI NICs ie 
a boot ROM ?
