Subject: Re: [Peterboro] LUG future

Hi all,

As regards to things I'd be interested in, the forensics talk would be very
interesting as would the talk about the iPlayer.

Personally I'd like to hear a talk and quick tutorial on how to use gimp
(just basic stuff to start with, I'm thinking a quick show of how it can do
stuff that MSPaint can do) with later tutorials and a more in-depth talk
about how powerful gimp is and how it stacks up against PaintShopPro and
Photoshop (these are the two applications I hear about most from windows
users) ---- I think my brother would be able to do a GiMp run through as he
uses it (I use Photoshop under Wine so could do a similar session on that
between the two of us I think we could manage a compare and contrast
session)

I know Andy has an interest in retro computers, maybe he'd be up for a quick
talk/discussion on emulation of the computers we all remember - again on a
personal note I'd like to get an emulator of the Amstrad CPC range installed
and working. --- Yeah cool idea Amiga anyone :)

I also like the idea of a LUG project maybe trying to get Steve's offered
computer set up as a Mame station is a good starting point.

Other threads have mentioned that some members of the list are more
interested in enterprise/business uses of Linux. I am just a home user but
would find a talk about how they are or plan to use Linux in the business
world very interesting including overviews of how well (or not) the
implementation of a Linux based solution went.

Finally I'd be very interested in a talk on Apache especially to do with
performance tuning.

Regards
Stuart L.
